The Assumption College School boys varsity soccer team is heading to the championship final in Brantford, Ontario, after securing a 3-1 victory against the BCI Mustangs in the semi-final match on May 11, 2026.
The Lions’ offensive performance was led by Eamon N., who scored two goals, while teammate Jackson D. added a third to round out the scoring. Defensively, Tarun A. was named man of the match for his efforts in successfully shutting down the top playmaker for the BCI Mustangs.
Head coach Matt DaCosta and his team are now focusing their attention on the upcoming championship final against the St. John’s College Green Eagles. The match is set for Thursday, May 14, 2026, at 2 p.m. and will take place at the Bisons Alumni North Park Sports Complex. This modern, 3.5-million-dollar facility features a synthetic turf field and seating for 750 spectators.
The team is looking to secure a victory following a difficult loss on their home turf last year. To prepare for the high-stakes final, the players have been called for an early morning practice at Assumption College School on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.
Community members and parents are invited to attend the final on Thursday to support the team as they compete for the title. The Athletic Association of Brant, Haldimand & Norfolk Counties oversees the league, which includes both Assumption College and St. John’s College.
