Residents of Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, should prepare for a transition to winter-like conditions this evening as Environment Canada forecasts snow to begin falling at 7:00 PM on April 7, 2026.
While the afternoon remains clear, the incoming snow is expected to continue throughout the night. By early Wednesday morning, the local forecast indicates northerly winds will gust up to 40 km/h, with wind chill temperatures dropping to -7°C. Although snow is on the way, there are currently no formal weather alerts in effect for the area.
The Town of Bridgewater Public Works department is prepared to manage the event, overseeing the maintenance of approximately 70 kilometres of streets and 35 kilometres of sidewalks. Officials remind residents that under the provincial Motor Vehicle Act, vehicles left parked on streets during snow-clearing operations may be ticketed and towed without warning. Crews are limited to a maximum 16-hour work shift before requiring a mandatory rest period.
With the shift in weather, residents are encouraged to monitor local road conditions through 511 Nova Scotia and exercise caution while travelling this evening. The municipal transit service will conclude operations at 6:00 PM today in response to the changing conditions.
