Carberry, Manitoba, residents will have a new walking path along Stickle Avenue by the start of the school year. Town council awarded the contract to Brandon-based Zenith Paving Ltd. during its July 2026 meeting, with a condition that construction wraps up before September 1, 2026.
The asphalt path will run from Dufferin Street to Main Street, linking key community spots. It passes the Carberry Plains Community Centre at 500 Stickle Avenue, the future Tiny Taters Daycare Co-op at 750 Stickle Avenue, and ends near the Carberry Collegiate on Main Street, giving families a safer walking route.
Zenith Paving has been operating for over 60 years and employs about 100 people at peak times. The company was chosen after council put the tender out publicly earlier this year.
Mayor Ray Muirhead and councillors approved the project alongside other infrastructure spending, including a new fire truck and campground upgrades. The path is one of the last major projects for the current council, with municipal elections set for October 28, 2026.
