On March 7, 2026, Carberry Collegiate in Carberry, Manitoba, will host the opening round of the provincial high school basketball playoffs. This event gives local residents a chance to see their varsity boys team play at home as they compete for a spot in the final provincial championship bracket.
The Carberry Cougars are currently ranked fourth in the province and will start the day against the fifth-ranked Green Valley Pirates at 1:30 PM. According to the Manitoba High Schools Athletic Association, the tournament also includes the Frontier Raiders and the Ebb and Flow Thunderbirds.
The Cougars roster consists of 12 players and is led by head coach Chris Unrau. One of the key players to watch is Owen Unrau, a Grade 12 student who stands six-foot-six and plays both guard and forward positions.
Before the provincial games begin, the team is set to face the Minnedosa Chancellors in the Zone 7 finals on March 3, 2026. For those who cannot make it to the gym on Saturday, all tournament games will be streamed live on the CC Gym YouTube channel.
