People in Carberry and nearby areas can now sign up for a new community art project. The Carberry Plains Arts Council has opened an online registration form for its Mosaic Star program.

The arts council is a non-profit group run by community members from Carberry and the North-Cypress Langford area. It runs out of an office at 122 Main Street in Carberry.

This is not the council’s first big mosaic project. In November 2017, 237 people of all ages came to the Carberry Plains Community Center to paint tiles for the Canada 150 Mosaic mural. That mural now hangs in Pioneer Park across from the Carberry Municipal Office on 4th Avenue.

The arts council also started a Youth Engagement Project in 2017. Teaming up with the Manitoba Arts Network, it formed a Youth Advisory Council with students from Carberry Collegiate Highschool to set up live shows for their peers.

Residents who want to take part in the new Mosaic Star program can fill out the form online. The council hopes the project brings people together the same way the Canada 150 mural did.
