The 39th annual Beef and Barley Days celebration will return to Carstairs, Alberta from July 17 to 19, 2026, bringing together the community for a weekend of agricultural pride and family fun. Organized by the Carstairs & District Agricultural Society, this year’s parade theme is “Salute to Agriculture,” honoring the farmers, ranchers, and producers who are the backbone of the area.
The parade, organized by the Carstairs Lions Club, will feature tractors, harvest displays, and plenty of country spirit. Residents and groups interested in participating can contact the Lions to register. The Lions have been serving Carstairs since 1980 and have long been a key part of the festival.
Alongside the parade, the weekend offers events for all ages. The Crooked Horn Canadian Junior Rodeo will bring daily rodeo action throughout the weekend; a Vegas Tuffest Qualifier was featured in 2025 and details for 2026 are still to be announced. Families can enjoy a free inline skate party at the Carstairs Memorial Arena on Saturday evening, browse the community market, or take in the Sunday church service in Memorial Park. The Barley Brewfest will also return for those looking to sample local flavors.
The Agricultural Society is still looking for volunteers to help make the event a success. Anyone interested can sign up through the society’s website. With deep roots in Mountain View County’s farming and ranching traditions, Beef and Barley Days remains a highlight of the summer calendar for Carstairs and the surrounding area.
