There are no frost warnings or alerts in effect for Carstairs or the surrounding region. Environment Canada’s forecast calls for a few clouds, with southeast winds gusting to 40 km/h this evening before calming overnight. These conditions are not expected to bring temperatures anywhere near the freezing mark.
While 7 C is on the cooler side for a July night, it remains well above the frost threshold. The average last spring frost for the Carstairs area occurs around May 29, and the first fall frost typically arrives by September 6, giving gardeners a 99-day growing season on average, according to the Old Farmer’s Almanac.
The cool snap will be brief. Environment Canada says temperatures will bounce back quickly, with Tuesday’s high reaching 28 C, bringing a return to more typical summer weather. While rare summer frost events have happened in Alberta before, including an unusual frost advisory in July 2025 that broke long-standing temperature records, tonight’s forecast does not repeat that pattern.
