The Churchill Northern Studies Centre is looking for a new Program Assistant to help support its science and education efforts during the upcoming summer season. The non-profit research facility, located 23 kilometres east of Churchill, Manitoba, is accepting applications for the role until May 3, 2026.
The position runs from June 29 through August 29, 2026. This entry-level role involves a variety of responsibilities, including welcoming guests, leading tours, planning activities, and assisting with social media. The successful applicant will also help transport guests and manage luggage for visitors attending the centre’s various programs, which include courses on local wildlife such as beluga whales.
The new hire will report to the centre’s Program Coordinator, Faith Carnegie. The organization has stated that preference for the position will be given to local residents of Churchill and surrounding communities, as well as to Indigenous applicants.
Established in 1976, the centre sits at the intersection of three major biomes: marine, northern boreal forest, and tundra. The facility is a key part of the local economy in Churchill, where tourism contributes an estimated $99 million annually to the provincial economy and supports over 1,300 local jobs. Those interested in the role can submit their application via email to the centre.
