Churchill residents have until August 14, 2026, to register or update their voter information for the upcoming municipal election, now scheduled for October 28, 2026. The Town of Churchill is urging all eligible voters to confirm their details at the Administration Services Office before the deadline.
To qualify, residents must be at least 18 years old by election day, which falls on October 28, 2026. They must also have lived in the municipality or owned property there for at least six months before the election date. After August 14, residents should contact the town for information about late registration options.
Registration can be done in person at the Town Centre Complex during business hours, which are Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Voters can also call 204-675-8871 or email the town at [email protected] for assistance. Ask for voter registration services when calling.
The election will decide the mayor and council positions. Mayor Michael Spence has led the community since 1995 and is among the longest-serving mayors in Manitoba. The current council includes councillors Verna Flett, Bill Dingwall, Marjorie Spence, and Heather Spence-Botelho.
Churchill is a small subarctic port community of about 870 people on Hudson Bay. The town is remote, with no road connections, and relies on rail and air travel. Just over 56 percent of the population is Indigenous, according to the 2021 Census.
