The University College of the North, which has a regional centre in Churchill, Manitoba, has been named one of the top 25 employers in the province for 2026. This award marks the third year in a row the institution has earned a spot on the list created by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers.
The recognition highlights the school’s effort to create a good workplace for its staff and faculty. The college runs 12 different centres across the north to help people get the education and job training they need close to home.
Doug Lauvstad, the president of the college, said the honour shows how much the staff cares about students and the local community. He noted that the award is a reflection of the hard-working people who support northern residents every day.
By being a top place to work, the college is better able to find and keep the skilled workers needed to run its local programs. This helps ensure that education services remain steady and reliable for people living in the region.
