The E&N Rail Trail will be fully closed between Stancombe Place and Admirals Road/Colville Road from September 8 to 11, 2026, for a culvert replacement project under the trail. The Township of Esquimalt is leading the work, with Allterra Construction Ltd. as the contractor. Because Colville Road forms the boundary between Esquimalt and Colwood, the closure directly affects Colwood residents who use the trail for cycling, walking, and commuting.
A 24/7 detour will be in place throughout the four-day closure. Trail users are asked to follow posted signage and the direction of traffic control personnel. The Capital Regional District advises allowing extra travel time if you are heading through the area.
The E&N Rail Trail is a 13.5-kilometre paved bike and walking trail that runs through Victoria, Esquimalt, View Royal, and Langford. It follows the old E&N railway line and serves as an important part of the regional active transportation network. The trail is managed by the Capital Regional District.
