Comic book fans in Cornwall will have the chance to add to their collections this weekend as Fantasy Realm Comics & Cards hosts its annual giveaway event. The store, located at 227 Pitt Street, will offer a large selection of free comic books on Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This year marks the 25th edition of the giveaway, which is held in coordination with the Free Comic Book Day Organization. According to the Downtown BIA Cornwall, it stands as the longest-running single-day event in the downtown core since 2002. Organizers expect between 300 and 400 people to visit the area for the event, which features a selection of free comic titles.
Established in 1985, Fantasy Realm is a comic book store in Cornwall. Owner Randy Sauve says he uses the event to promote reading, highlighting that comic books and graphic novels serve as both entertainment and effective tools for improving literacy skills for residents of all ages.
The event is intended to bring fans into the downtown area and support local businesses. While this year marks the 25th anniversary, the shop has previously seen hundreds of attendees travel from surrounding regions to participate in the annual tradition.
