Students at Cornwall Collegiate and Vocational School are organizing a new Relay For Life event to support the Canadian Cancer Society. The initiative aims to bring the community together in Cornwall, Ontario, with the main event planned for Saturday, May 23, 2026.
The student-led project officially began on April 1, 2026. Student organizer Aariz Tahir noted that the event is focused on community connection and supporting those who are currently fighting cancer or have done so in the past.
This event serves as a local contribution to the long-running national program. Relay For Life is the largest fundraising event for the Canadian Cancer Society and celebrated its 25th anniversary in Canada in 2024.
The school is part of the Upper Canada District School Board. Students are looking to build on successful fundraising models seen elsewhere in the region, such as at South Grenville District High School, which raised over $94,000 during their 2025 event.
