Residents in Cornwall, Ontario, are in for a week of volatile weather that will see unseasonably warm temperatures followed by a sharp cold snap and the possibility of flurries early next week.
According to Environment Canada, this week will bring a period of warmth well above the typical April average of 12°C. The forecast shows temperatures reaching 18°C on Thursday, 15°C on Friday, and climbing to a high of 18°C by Saturday.
While the weather will be mild, it will also be wet. Rain is expected to persist from Wednesday through Saturday, with The Weather Network warning of a risk of thunderstorms on Thursday evening, which could bring 10 to 15 millimetres of rain to the area.
The warm spell will be short-lived, however, as a significant cooldown is expected to arrive Sunday night. Temperatures are set to drop to -1°C, with a 30 per cent chance of rain showers or flurries. By Monday, daytime temperatures will struggle to reach 5°C, accompanied by a continued chance of flurries.
This rapid shift in conditions matches the long-term outlook for the season. In its 2026 spring forecast, weather experts noted that warm conditions would lack consistency throughout April, with mild spells frequently being offset by periods of colder weather.
