Didsbury residents can look forward to a morning of family fun when the Didsbury Elks Lodge #514 hosts its 39th Annual Parade on August 22, 2026. The parade is a cornerstone of the annual Didsbury Fair & Rodeo weekend, which also includes the Didsbury Agricultural Society’s FCA Rodeo at the Exhibition Grounds.
The western-themed parade route will start near the hospital. Before the procession gets underway, a pancake breakfast will be served at the Elks Hall, located at 1914-20th Street. Organizers are also offering prizes for children’s costume and bike entries, encouraging young residents to take part in the celebration.
A highlight of this year’s event will be a vintage military vehicle showcase by the Prairie Motor Brigade, a family-oriented association dedicated to restoring and displaying military vehicles. The group regularly participates in town parades and events that honour veterans and troops.
The Didsbury Elks have been supporting families, events, and projects in the community since 1967. The parade has grown into a signature event, with the 2024 edition’s pancake breakfast drawing more than 500 people. The Elks of Canada, the national organization behind the local lodge, has been helping communities across the country since 1912 under the mission of “People Helping People.”
The parade is organized by volunteers, including key organizer Margo Ward, who helps coordinate community participation. Residents and visitors are invited to line the route, enjoy the pancake breakfast, and take in the variety of floats, antique vehicles, and community groups that make the event a local tradition.
