Didsbury, Alberta is set for a full slate of family events over the August 21-23 weekend, including a pancake breakfast, parade, FCA rodeo, country music concert, and tractor pull.
The Didsbury Elks Lodge #514 will host its annual Pancake Breakfast and Parade on Saturday, August 22. This year’s theme is “Wagon Wheels & Western Tails.” The breakfast typically serves over 500 people, making it one of the community’s largest gatherings.
The Didsbury Agricultural Society will hold the FCA Rodeo at its Exhibition Grounds, located at 10-2040 Twp Rd 314 north of town. Performances are scheduled for Friday evening and Saturday afternoon. Alongside traditional rodeo events, kids can enjoy Wild Pony Races, Mutt’n Bustin’, and Balloon Scramble during intermission. The rodeo is sanctioned by the Foothills Cowboy Association, a non-profit with about 500 members that sanctions roughly 24 rodeos across Central Alberta.
On Saturday, a Country Music Concert at the Train Station stage will feature three artists, a vendor village, food trucks, and beer gardens, followed by a cabaret at the Didsbury Curling Rink. The weekend wraps up Sunday with the Annual Clifford Scott Tractor Pull and Gymkhana at the Agricultural Society Exhibition Grounds.
Vair Whitlow, Arena Director for the Didsbury Rodeo, notes that volunteers and sponsors are essential to making the weekend possible. Residents from Didsbury and surrounding Mountain View County are encouraged to come out and enjoy the events.
