Rodeo fans in Hinton can look forward to a packed weekend as the Hinton Bighorn Rodeo returns to Mary Reimer Park on June 19 and 20, 2026. The weekend starts with slack events on Friday morning, followed by main performances Friday and Saturday evenings at 6:00 p.m. Organizers say it is one of the biggest community weekends of the year.
The event is sanctioned by the Wildrose Rodeo Association, an amateur group that runs rodeos across Alberta. Past years have drawn about 95 competitors from all over the province and even from countries like England, New Zealand, and Australia. Events include fan favorites like the Steve McClelland Memorial Pack Horse Race, ladies barrel racing, bull riding, team roping, tie-down roping, and steer wrestling.
Mary Reimer Park sits at 399 East River Road and offers dedicated rodeo and gymkhana grounds, a pavilion, food booth, playground, and plenty of space for families to spread out. The park’s full lineup of amenities means visitors can catch the action and keep kids busy between events.
Friday morning’s 10:00 a.m. slack session gives early birds a first look at preliminary competitions before the evening show. Both Friday and Saturday evening performances start at 6:00 p.m., giving residents and visitors two chances to take in the rodeo. The event wraps up Saturday night, closing out a high-energy start to summer in the foothills.
With Hinton located just 81 kilometres northeast of Jasper, the rodeo often draws a mix of locals and tourists passing through the area. Organizers expect a strong turnout and encourage everyone to come out for what has become a staple of the community calendar.
