The Town of Hinton is looking to fill a temporary Caregiver Education Coordinator position within its Family and Community Support Services department. The job was posted on June 24, 2026, and will remain open until the right person is found. This grant-funded role provides leave coverage through January 31, 2027, offering a local employment opportunity in community support services.
The new coordinator will work under the FCSS Assistant Manager as part of the Family Resource Network program. Hinton is part of the West Yellowhead Family Resource Network, which received a two-year provincial grant in spring 2024 to fund caregiver education and support. The network also includes Jasper, Edson, Grande Cache, and Yellowhead County. The coordinator’s main job is to help caregivers build skills so they can create safe, nurturing homes that support healthy child development.
Day-to-day work will include developing and leading workshops, connecting with partners at the local, regional, and provincial levels, providing one-on-one support to caregivers, and sharing educational resources with families. It is a hands-on role that puts the coordinator directly in touch with people who need guidance and tools to do their best for the children in their care.
FCSS has been a part of Hinton for nearly 40 years. The provincially mandated program focuses on preventing social issues such as homelessness, poverty, domestic violence, and mental health challenges. It operates through an 80/20 funding partnership between the Government of Alberta and participating municipalities, with the province covering up to 80 percent of costs. This means the new position is backed by both provincial dollars and local commitment to family wellbeing.
