Kensington, Prince Edward Island, Town Council approved the 2026-2027 municipal budget at the July 13, 2026 regular council meeting, locking in a financial plan that keeps property tax rates unchanged while addressing growing infrastructure needs.
The 2026-2027 Budget estimates $4,776,227 in operational revenue and $4,775,791 in operational spending. The balanced budget holds the non-commercial tax rate at $0.60 per $100 of assessed value and the commercial rate at $1.35 per $100 of assessed value.

The budget is supported by an estimated $1,019,800 in property tax revenue and $533,600 in provincial equalization funding. Total assessment values are $133,513,510 for non-commercial properties and $16,201,420 for commercial properties.
Water and sewer rates that took effect January 1, 2026 remain in place. For water, unmetered service costs $300 per year and metered service costs $252.25 plus $1.65 per thousand gallons. Sewer rates are $399 per year for unmetered service and $306.10 plus $3.21 per thousand gallons for metered service.
Looking beyond the next year, the town has a five-year capital plan totaling $12,404,340. Major projects include a water tower replacement at $4 million, sewer main replacement at $3.25 million, and core area redevelopment at $2.3 million.
