Residents in Kingston, Ontario should prepare for upcoming changes to local bus services, as Kingston Transit implements seasonal updates starting Monday, May 4, 2026. These adjustments include modifications to specific bus routes and the temporary relocation of a major transfer point.
One of the primary changes involves Route 12, which will be limited to weekday peak times for travel between downtown and CFB Kingston. Weekend service for this route will be discontinued as part of these seasonal updates. Additionally, Sunday service for Express 601 and 602 will be replaced by Route 60. This change is intended to offer a flexible travel option during weekends throughout the summer to account for potential closures of the LaSalle Causeway.
While these routes are changing, the City of Kingston has confirmed that several other services will remain unaffected. Bus routes 2, 7, 10, 11, 15, 16, 19, 22, 31/32, and Express 801/802 will continue to operate under their current schedules.
Transit users should also note that the Cataraqui Centre Transfer Point will close temporarily beginning Monday, April 13, 2026. This closure is for construction as work begins to install new, modern transit stations. During this period, an accessible temporary transfer location will be available on the north side of the property.
Kingston Transit serves Kingston and the neighbouring community of Amherstview, with major transfer points located at the Kingston Centre, downtown Kingston, Cataraqui Town Centre, and Gardiners Town Centre. Riders are encouraged to review the updated maps and schedules before the changes take effect in May.
