Dog owners on the west side of Leduc now have a permanent, year-round off-leash space for their pets. The Deer Valley Dog Park officially opened as a permanent amenity on August 29, 2026, at 6201 Grant MacEwan Blvd near MacEwan Greens.
The park first opened in 2023 as a two-year pilot project, operating seasonally from May to October. After a survey of 232 residents found 86 per cent supported making it permanent, City Council approved the change during 2026 budget deliberations, accelerating the timeline from the original 2028 proposal.
Mayor Lars Hansen says dog parks support active living and help build strong, connected neighbourhoods. “We are excited to see the Deer Valley Dog Park become a permanent space that residents and their pets can enjoy year-round,” he said.
The park includes a drinking water fountain for pets and benches. It is one of four off-leash dog parks in Leduc, joining K9 Off-Leash Dog Park, Barclay Off-leash Dog Park, and Outlook Park.
The City reminds residents to follow posted rules, keep dogs under control, and clean up after their pets.
