The Leduc Downtown Business Association is currently searching for a student to join its team as an Events Assistant for the summer of 2026. This role, which was posted on May 11, 2026, will help support local events and community initiatives within the downtown district of Leduc, Alberta.
The position is made possible through the Canada Summer Jobs Grant, and applicants must meet the program’s specific eligibility requirements. The successful candidate will work a minimum of 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., from May through August 2026.
This role serves as a collaborative effort supporting four community organizations: the Leduc, Nisku & Wetaskiwin Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Leduc Downtown Business Association, the Leduc and District Historic Society, and the Alberta Legacy Development Society / Leduc Grain Elevator. The association, which represents over 200 businesses in the downtown core, will keep the position open until a suitable candidate is found.
Leduc has a long history, having been incorporated as a village in 1899, becoming a town in 1906, and later a city in 1983. The downtown area, known for its historic buildings that date back more than a century, saw significant development following the regional oil discovery in 1947. Today, the district remains a focal point for the community, with the new events hire expected to play a key role in supporting ongoing efforts to promote local commerce and vibrancy.
