Hotel team members from across Leduc, Alberta got an up-close look at the community’s attractions late last month as Discover Leduc Region and the City of Leduc hosted a Familiarization Tour meant to help them better serve visitors.
The tour, held the week before June 2, 2026, took participants to 10 local spots, including the Civic Centre, Leduc Boat Club, Telford Lake, Leduc Recreation Centre, Leduc Farmer’s Market, Century Mile Racetrack, Stone Barn Garden & Cultural Village, Leduc Heritage Grain Elevator, the Downtown District, and Black Gold Gallery & Framing.
Along the way, they sampled pastries from Pastry Heaven Coffee Shop, coffee from Dark Kiss Coffee, and lunch at Century Mile Racetrack and Casino. The goal is to arm front-line hospitality staff with firsthand knowledge so they can offer authentic suggestions when guests ask what to see and do.
Discover Leduc Region is the tourism arm of the Leduc, Nisku & Wetaskiwin Regional Chamber of Commerce, with founding partners the City of Leduc and Leduc County. It promotes six communities south of Edmonton, a region that sees steady visitor traffic due in part to the nearby Edmonton International Airport, Canada’s fifth-busiest airport.
Several stops highlight draws that residents might take for granted but can be new to out-of-towners. The Leduc Heritage Grain Elevator, for example, earned Registered Historic Site status in 2003 and operates as a museum with year-round tours. The Leduc Boat Club, formed in 2004 in preparation for the 2005 World Masters Games, gives people a chance to try paddling on Telford Lake. The Leduc Farmer’s Market runs Thursdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. through September 26 in the Leduc Recreation Centre parking lot.
By showing hotel staff what is available, organizers hope visitors will leave with a fuller picture of Leduc beyond the airport or highway exit. The tour is part of Discover Leduc Region’s broader work to connect locals and tourists with experiences rooted in the area.
