The Leduc Public Library is offering local families an educational way to spend their school break by hosting an online science workshop on March 31, 2026. Designed for children in Kindergarten through Grade 6, the Spring Break – Magical Science program allows participants to explore scientific forces from the comfort of their homes.
The event is facilitated by Scientists in School, a Canadian charitable organization that provides hands-on learning experiences. During the session, which runs from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., children will have the opportunity to experiment with unusual potions, observe how light scatters to create illusions, and learn about the forces that allow particles to levitate.
This programming aligns with the spring break period for many local students, which typically runs from March 30 to April 3, 2026. The library’s focus on youth engagement is supported by a five-year strategic plan that prioritizes family-oriented services and partnerships.
The commitment to children’s programming comes as the library experiences record-breaking community use. During 2025, the facility saw over 150,000 visits, with 13,735 of those being specifically for children’s programs. As Leduc continues to grow as one of the largest cities in Alberta, these initiatives serve an estimated population of approximately 40,000 residents, helping the library maintain its role as a central community hub.
