The City of Lethbridge has updated its rules for how residents in Lethbridge, Alberta, should report missed garbage, recycling, or organic waste bins as of March 2026. The new guidelines clarify when people should contact the city to ensure their waste is picked up if it was bypassed by collection trucks.
Residents are now required to wait until the next business day after their usual pickup day before reporting a missed bin to the 311 service line. All requests for a missed collection must be submitted within two business days of the original collection date to be eligible for a return trip from crews.
Collection trucks typically operate between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on pick-up days. To help residents see if crews are still working in their area, the city provides a live Collection Truck Tracking Tool that shows the location of garbage, recycling, and organic waste vehicles.
These changes follow the removal of blue cart recycling fees from residential utility bills on April 1, 2025. That cost was removed because of a provincial regulation that requires the companies producing packaging to pay for the recycling process instead of homeowners.
