The Lowe Farm Landfill is set to resume operations on May 20, 2026, ending a closure that began in early April. The Rural Municipality of Morris has not publicly disclosed a specific reason for the temporary shutdown, which started on April 4.
Beginning May 20, the site will return to its standard summer operating schedule. Residents can drop off waste on Wednesdays from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The reopening date also coincides with the municipality’s spring cleanup day for the Lowe Farm community.
When using the facility, residents are reminded that the landfill accepts debit or credit card payments only. According to the current rate schedule, which has been in effect since January 1, 2025, disposal fees range from $16 for 1-5 bags to $80 for a one-ton truck.
The Rural Municipality of Morris council, led by Reeve Scott Siemens and Deputy Reeve Mervin Dueck, alongside Councillors Rick Giesbrecht, Shane Kroeker, Al Rowe, and Cory Friesen, oversees the facility. The municipality serves several communities, including Lowe Farm, located approximately 50 kilometres southwest of Winnipeg.
