Youth for Christ Morris is giving residents of Morris, Manitoba, new ways to get involved with local youth mentorship. The organization is now inviting community members to bring meals to its Supper Club or snacks to Drop-In and Zone youth programs, and it has launched a vehicle donation program that offers a tax-deductible receipt for cars worth $300 or more.
“Bring a meal to Supper Club, or a snack to Drop-In or Zone,” the organization says on its Join Us page. The programs give young people a safe place to connect and get support from caring adults.
Supper Club runs every Monday from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for youth in grades 7 through 12. Volunteers and staff share a balanced meal with the teens, followed by a conversational God Talk discussion where youth can ask questions about faith. The Zone after-school program meets Wednesdays from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. for kids in grades 5 and 6, offering fun activities, snacks, and encouragement. Drop-In runs Thursdays from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for grades 7 through 12.
The new vehicle donation option adds a fundraising stream for the faith-based nonprofit, which operates as a local chapter of Youth for Christ Canada. Donors can give a vehicle and receive a tax-deductible receipt with a minimum value of $300. People can also support the organization through e-transfer to [email protected] or by sending a cheque to YFC Morris, Box 876 Morris MB, R0G 1K0.
The organization is located at 320 Boyne Ave West, Morris, Manitoba. It is led by Executive Director Jack Wiebe and Program Director Josh Nickel, and has been growing its services, recently announcing plans to hire a specialty youth worker focused on programming for young women.
