Mount Pearl residents have a simple way to help tidy up their neighbourhoods this month. The City of Mount Pearl is once again running its annual “20 Minute Makeover” spring cleanup, giving folks an easy opportunity to spend a short time picking up litter around their homes, parks, and public spaces.
The cleanup runs throughout May and June, and the city makes it easy by offering free bags and gloves. You can pick those up at the Reid Centre and City Hall. If you fill a bag, city staff will even arrange to come and get it. Just call Kyle at 748-1008 or Allison at 748-1206 to schedule a pickup.
The city encourages everyone to lend a hand for just 20 minutes, noting that small efforts add up when many residents take part. The “20 Minute Makeover” is designed to make community upkeep feel easy and accessible.
The city has long taken a hands-on approach to keeping Mount Pearl clean. In addition to the spring cleanup, the city runs an Adopt-A-Park program for volunteers who want to help care for green spaces year-round. The city also hires green teams each spring and uses robotic garbage collection to reduce waste blowing around.
