The fire department serves St. John’s, Mount Pearl, and Paradise, and has provided fire services to Mount Pearl since 1992.
The department is urging anyone who gets a suspicious call to hang up right away and call the organization directly using a trusted number. They also want residents to share the warning with family, friends, and neighbours, especially those who might be more vulnerable to phone scams. Anyone who believes they were targeted can report the fraud to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
