The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is looking for a man after an attempted robbery on the Admiralty Walking Trail in Mount Pearl on Friday morning, June 26, 2026. A woman was treated for minor injuries after a stranger approached her, showed a weapon, and tried to steal her things.
Police say the woman was on the trail just after 9:30 a.m. in the Carroll Drive area when an unknown man walked up to her. He had a weapon and tried to take her belongings before fleeing toward Richard Nolan Drive. Paramedics checked the woman at the scene for minor injuries. Investigators believe the two did not know each other.
The RNC sent in several teams to search for the suspect, including Operational Patrol Services, Police Dog Services, a drone operator, officers on all-terrain vehicles, and Mount Pearl Municipal Enforcement. The man has not been found, and the RNC’s Major Crime Unit is now handling the case. He is described as a thin, tall, white man, wearing a black hoodie and black pants.
Residents can expect to see more police officers in the area throughout the weekend as the search continues. Police are asking anyone who was near the trail between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Friday and saw something unusual to call them at 709-729-8000. The Admiralty Walking Trail is part of Mount Pearl’s network of more than 60 kilometers of pathways. The city has been working to improve trail safety after several violent attacks in November 2024 led to a new five-year Community Safety and Well-Being Plan released in February 2026.
