Residents of Olds and the surrounding area have until June 19 to share their thoughts on the future of local recreation facilities through a new community survey. The Town of Olds is leading the Regional Recreation Facility Study alongside Mountain View County, Olds College, Chinook’s Edge School Division, and Olds Regional Exhibition.
The survey asks about how people use existing facilities, what upgrades or new development they want most, and how access can be improved. But officials stress this is about gathering information, not a promise to build anything new. The goal is to give decision-makers a clearer picture of community needs for years ahead.
Earlier feedback from the 2026 Budget Survey showed residents would rather maintain the current Sportsplex than invest in a new facility. The town is now moving ahead with a 10-year renewal plan for the building. This latest study looks more broadly at all recreation assets across the five partner organizations, which serve not just Olds’ roughly 9,200 residents but also many from Mountain View County and beyond.
The survey is open until June 19 and can be found on the Engage Olds website. Results are expected to be shared with the public in the fall.
