Olds residents and business owners can now share what matters most to them for the town’s 2027 budget through an online survey open until August 5. The Town of Olds launched the survey on engage.olds.ca, building on past years where community input directly shaped spending on roads, snow clearing, safety, and recreation.
“The Town of Olds is inviting residents and businesses to help shape future priorities through the 2027 Budget Survey, now open until August 5, 2026,” the town stated on its website. Last year’s survey drew about 318 responses, and the feedback helped guide council decisions on infrastructure renewal, snow clearing, public safety, and improvements to the Sportsplex and Centennial Park.
The 2026 budget, approved last December, set operating spending at $37.3 million and a capital budget of $2.88 million. It included $800,000 to replace aging underground pipes on 57 Avenue, $1 million to reduce water loss across the system, and $557,000 for the Sportsplex as part of a 10-year renewal plan. These investments reflected what residents said they wanted in the previous survey, where 80% called for less property crime and snow clearing topped the public works list.
Mayor Dan Daley, who was elected in October 2025, and the rest of council will use this summer’s survey results when they sit down to draft the 2027 budget this fall. Final approval is expected in December 2026. “Feedback collected through the survey will help inform Council’s budget discussions,” said Town of Olds officials.
