The Town of Orangeville, Ontario, will begin work to fix the stormwater pond on Young Court in the summer of 2026 to ensure the area drains properly and to prevent local flooding. This project was deemed necessary after an investigation in 2025 found that the facility was no longer working the way it was originally designed.
Crews will focus on three main tasks to restore the pond: removing built-up dirt and sediment, cleaning out the pipes and openings that move water in and out, and replacing the pond’s liner. These steps are required to keep the water at the correct levels and ensure the system can properly filter water before it moves downstream.
A consultant was hired in the fall of 2025 to study the issues and finished the design plans in the winter of 2026. These upgrades will help the pond manage heavy rain and melting snow, protecting the surrounding neighbourhood from drainage problems. The town expects to choose a contractor this spring so that construction can stay on track for the summer months.
