The Orangeville Public Library is launching its 2026 TD Summer Reading Club on July 1, bringing back free summer reading fun for kids and adding a new Tween Bingo program aimed at children ages 9 to 12.
Starting July 2, families can pick up a Tween Bingo card at either of the library’s two locations: the Mill Street branch downtown or the Alder Street branch inside the Alder Street Recreation Complex. For each line completed on the bingo card, participants earn one ballot for the weekly TD Summer Reading prize draws. The program runs through the week of August 24.
Lauren Tilly, Program and Research Librarian at the Orangeville Public Library, said the goal is to keep kids excited about reading over the summer. “Empowering kids to discover engaging stories, whatever the format, is the key to building a lifelong love of reading,” Tilly said.
The library is also continuing its Tween Club drop-in sessions every Thursday from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Mill Street branch. Running from July 2 through August 20, the sessions include art, games and creative writing activities. No registration is needed, and it’s open to all 9- to 12-year-olds.
The TD Summer Reading Club is a free national program developed by the Toronto Public Library in partnership with Library and Archives Canada, with sponsorship from TD Bank Group. It is delivered through more than 2,200 libraries across Canada. In Orangeville in 2023, participants logged 122,093 minutes of reading over the summer. Families can register through the Beanstack Tracker app to track reading minutes, earn digital badges and enter prize draws.
