The Orangeville Public Library is hosting an interactive storytime featuring live baby ducklings at its Mill Street branch in Orangeville, Ontario, on May 7, 2026. From 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, families are invited to join local author Carolyn J. Morris for a reading from her Railfence Bunch children’s book collection.
Following the book reading, children will have the opportunity to hold a baby duckling and learn facts about the animals, including tips on how to care for them. The event is part of the library’s commitment to early literacy, building on its existing programs designed to help children develop reading skills through rhyme, rhythm, and repetition.
Morris, a former teacher with more than 30 years of classroom experience, grew up on a family farm and writes books that celebrate rural life in Ontario. The characters in her series, Chick and Duckling, were inspired by her time spent working with young students.
The event will take place at the Mill Street Library located at 1 Mill Street. The building underwent extensive renovations—including the installation of a new elevator, a glass atrium, and updated accessible washrooms—before reopening to the public in November 2023.
