The Town of Orangeville is celebrating Earth Week from April 20 to April 24, 2026, with a variety of programs and events designed to encourage local environmental sustainability. Residents are invited to participate in community projects, take advantage of cost-saving home rebates, and access resources for local conservation efforts.
The week features the annual Earth Day Tree Planting event, organized in partnership with Credit Valley Conservation and the Sustainable Orangeville committee, which invites community members to help plant native trees and shrubs to improve the local landscape.
Beyond the tree planting, the Town continues to support ongoing environmental initiatives. Residents connected to town water can access a $50 subsidy on rain barrels through the rainbarrel.ca program. Additionally, the Sustainable Orangeville committee offers grants of up to $1,000 to help residents and groups develop projects related to waste reduction, water conservation, active transportation, urban forestry, and food systems.
Orangeville, which has been recognized as a Bee City Canada community since 2020, is also expanding its support for local pollinators. Following a recent budget decision, the municipality has set aside funds for the development of a new community pollinator garden. The town also hosts an annual tree sapling giveaway and is currently exploring the possibility of adding pollinator plants to its future giveaway programs.
