The Town of Orangeville is currently seeking teen volunteers to help run its summer programs for the 2026 season. Those interested in supporting local children at the town-operated Camp Aliquam can now submit their applications to the Town of Orangeville.
The volunteer opportunity is open to youth aged 14 to 19. It serves as a way for local students to earn the 40 hours of community involvement required to graduate with an Ontario Secondary School Diploma. Volunteers will work with children ages 4 to 13 at three local sites: the Alder Recreation Centre, the Tony Rose Memorial Sports Centre, and the Island Lake Conservation Area.
Applicants must obtain a vulnerable sector screening from the local police department to participate. Once an application is submitted, the town will provide the necessary letter to assist with the screening process. All selected volunteers are required to attend a mandatory training session on Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Alder Recreation Centre.
Camp Aliquam runs for 10 weeks, from June 29 to September 4, 2026, with daily hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Programs will be closed for Canada Day on July 1 and the Civic Holiday on August 3. The Alder Recreation Centre location recently underwent major upgrades, reopening in May 2025 with a new eight-lane stainless steel lap pool and a renovated leisure pool.
