Orangeville residents will have a fresh opportunity to clear out clutter and make extra cash as the Downtown Orangeville BIA launches a brand new Community Garage Sale on Mill Street on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The event is part of the annual Mullet Sale, one of downtown’s biggest shopping days, and aims to draw even more bargain hunters to the core.
Those wishing to sell must register in advance and can reserve a 10-foot by 10-foot outdoor space for a $50 fully refundable deposit. Sellers need to bring their own tables, chairs, and an optional canopy with weights. The deposit is refunded at the end of the day once sellers have packed up and removed all items, garbage, and recycling.
Only gently used personal items are allowed, including clothing, household goods, collectibles, and sporting equipment. Handmade artisan goods, commercial vendors, new retail merchandise, and food or beverages are not permitted. Organizers stress that this is a true garage sale for the community, not a craft market or business showcase.
The Community Garage Sale runs alongside the popular Mullet Sale, which has been described as ‘all business up front and all party out back.’ Shoppers can expect sidewalk sales along Broadway and Mill Street, plus hidden deals in laneways, parking lots, and side streets. Adding a community garage sale is expected to bring even more foot traffic to an already bustling day.
Sellers can set up starting at 7:30 a.m. and must be fully ready by 9:00 a.m. The event goes ahead rain or shine. Registration is handled by emailing Melissa at [email protected], with deposits payable through Square. Space is limited, so early sign-up is encouraged. August is a busy month in Orangeville, with the Dufferin Film Festival running August 14 to 16 and the Summer Sounds music series continuing until August 29.
