Durham Regional Police are searching for a suspect after a man was shot in Oshawa’s Centennial neighbourhood on Sunday, June 14, 2026. Officers responded to the call around 3:00 p.m. and found the victim with a gunshot wound near Ritson Road North and Pentland Street. The man was taken to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries and has since been upgraded to stable condition.
Police say the shooting happened at a home on Pentland Street, near Ritson Road North and Beatrice Street East, just south of Taunton Road East. No arrests have been made, and investigators have not released a description of the suspect. The Durham Regional Police Service is asking anyone who may have seen something or has video footage to come forward.
Det. Barr of the Central East Division Criminal Investigations Branch is leading the case. Investigators are especially interested in cell phone, dash cam, or surveillance recordings from the area around the time of the shooting. Anyone with information can call Det. The shooting was one of two violent incidents in Oshawa that day. Later, around 10:30 p.m., officers responded to a stabbing near Simcoe Street and John Street. That case is also under investigation by Central East Division.
