A 17-year-old male from Oshawa is facing several criminal charges after he allegedly pointed a handgun at an Uber driver during a police traffic stop in Whitby, Ontario. The incident happened early in the morning on March 6, 2026, when the suspect reportedly forced the driver to try and flee from officers.
According to the Durham Regional Police Service, the encounter began around 12:35 a.m. near the intersection of Brock Street and Chestnut Street. After a short foot chase, officers arrested the teen and recovered a loaded firearm along with amounts of cocaine and crack cocaine.
At the time of his arrest, the youth was already under a legal order that prohibited him from possessing any weapons. He was also under a supervision order following previous violent crimes.
The teenager now faces a long list of new charges, including pointing a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, and drug trafficking. Investigators are asking anyone with dashcam or security footage from the area to come forward to help with the case.
