A 53-year-old woman has been charged after a 19-year-old was stabbed multiple times during a road rage fight over a parking spot at Lakeview Park in Oshawa, Ontario.
The confrontation happened on Canada Day, July 1, 2026, around 7:20 p.m. near Simcoe Street South. The Durham Regional Police say it started as an argument between Arlene Sophia Moore of Oshawa and a young couple, a 20-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman.
During the dispute, Moore pulled out a knife. The couple used bear spray on her in response, but Moore then stabbed the younger woman several times before running away. Officers provided medical care at the scene before the victim was transported. The victim was taken to a Toronto trauma centre with serious injuries and is now in stable condition.
Moore was arrested a short time later and faces charges including aggravated assault, two counts of assault with a weapon, and possessing a weapon dangerous. She was held for a bail hearing.
The incident unfolded shortly after the City of Oshawa cancelled its Canada Day fireworks due to bad weather, which may have added to the crowds and tension in the park area. Police are asking anyone with dashcam or surveillance video from the area at that time to contact D/Cst. Daddazio at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 1705.
