Three males are facing charges following a recent drug and firearm investigation by the Durham Regional Police Service Gun and Gang Unit. The operation, which involved search warrants across Ajax, Whitby, and Oshawa on April 30, 2026, resulted in the seizure of a loaded Glock firearm, a loaded prohibited extended magazine, a sawed-off prohibited rifle, cash, and fentanyl.
Those arrested include 19-year-old Carlos Jose Francis of Whitby, 19-year-old Jahsiah Gamble of Ajax, and a 17-year-old male from Whitby. Police noted that the 17-year-old was already bound by existing curfew conditions at the time of his arrest. All three individuals were held for bail hearings.
This arrest comes amid ongoing efforts by local police to address firearms and drug trafficking in the region, which serves approximately 700,000 residents. Police reported 50 incidents involving the discharge of a weapon in 2024, and have recorded 129 people killed or injured by firearms since 2018.
The recent enforcement follows other major initiatives in the region, including the 2024 investigation known as Project Martini, which saw 92 arrests and the seizure of $600,000 in drugs, and the 2025 effort known as Project Venture, which resulted in 12 firearms being taken off the street.
