Two suspects are facing criminal charges following a robbery and assault investigation in Oshawa that took place on March 2, 2026. The Durham Regional Police Service says the incidents involved an online marketplace transaction followed by an altercation at a local sporting event.
The first incident occurred at approximately 7:50 p.m. near Cedar Street and Porter Street, where two suspects robbed a victim who was attempting to sell shoes through an online marketplace. Shortly after that event, the same two suspects traveled to the Durham College Athletic Complex at 21 Avenue of Champions for a high-school basketball game. Police report that the pair targeted and assaulted a second victim at the game using an imitation firearm before fleeing the scene.
Khalil Adams, 19, of Ajax, faces charges including robbery, disguise with intent (two counts), use of an imitation firearm during an offence, assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, and three counts of breaching probation. At the time of the incident, Adams was already under court-ordered conditions prohibiting him from possessing weapons.
A 17-year-old youth from Pickering also faces charges, including robbery, disguise with intent, and failing to comply with a release order. The youth was under existing court conditions that prohibited him from using online marketplace applications when the robbery took place.
The first suspect surrendered to investigators on March 9, 2026, while Adams turned himself in on March 30, 2026. Both individuals were held for bail hearings. Police have stated that the incidents were isolated, as the suspects and victims are known to each other.
