The City of Pembroke, Ontario, will hold a special meeting on March 17, 2026, to discuss a new report that outlines how the community will grow and develop. This session is designed to review a preliminary report for the city’s Official Plan, which serves as a master map for future land use and construction.
The Special Council Meeting is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers. During the meeting, officials will look at how the city handles where new homes, businesses, and public services are located to ensure the community evolves in a way that meets local needs.
These long-term building plans are especially important for major local institutions like the Algonquin College Waterfront Campus. The campus was built in 2012 through a partnership between the city and the college that involved the city providing land along the water and investing in infrastructure to support the school.
Mayor Ron Gervais has previously highlighted the college as a major part of the local economy. City Clerk V. Charbonneau issued the notice for the session, which will help set the direction for future development and public services across the city.
