The Pembroke Public Library is inviting local families to participate in its free Summer Reading Club, which will run from June 30 to August 31, 2026. This initiative is part of the TD Summer Reading Club, a national program designed to encourage literacy among children of all interests and abilities.
The library offers specialized programming for different age groups. Children aged 3 to 13 can join the Read and Bead Club, while babies and toddlers who have not yet entered kindergarten are invited to participate in the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program. Participants who complete the summer program will be eligible for prizes sponsored by the Friends of the Pembroke Public Library, a non-profit organization that supports library materials and events.
Registration for the summer activities begins in June. Families can sign up online through the Beanstack platform with a guardian’s permission, or register in person at the library, located at 237 Victoria Street in downtown Pembroke. The library has previously received recognition for its programming, having placed third in the 2021 TD Summer Reading Awards.
To accommodate working families, the library is open Monday through Thursday from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and Friday through Saturday from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM. The facility remains closed on Sundays and all legal holidays.
