A new dining spot is now open in Pembroke, Ontario, offering a unique menu to the community. SOPA held its official grand opening in February 2026, at 20 Pembroke Street West.
The restaurant features scratch-made food influenced by Mediterranean and African flavours. Owner Luiana Mendes opened the business to provide residents and visitors with more international dining options in the downtown area.
To help launch the business, Mendes worked with the Renfrew County Community Futures Development Corporation. This organization provides support to local entrepreneurs looking to start or grow their businesses in the region.
According to Downtown Pembroke, the addition of the restaurant is part of ongoing work to make the historic district a more active place to visit. The new business aims to increase foot traffic and offer a fresh social space for the community.
