The forecast calls for sunny skies through much of the week, with highs ranging from 26 to 30°C. A 40 percent chance of showers arrives on Thursday, but the rest of the week remains mostly dry and bright, though Friday brings a 30 percent chance of showers and some cloud. Wind will be light, coming from the east at 20 km/h early in the week.
The UV index is rated 8, or very high, through Tuesday. Health officials recommend limiting time in the sun between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., wearing UV-protective sunglasses, seeking shade, and reapplying sunscreen every two hours or after swimming or heavy sweating.
No heat warnings are currently in place for the area, unlike the first two days of July when an orange-level heat warning was active. During that extreme heat event, temperatures hit 35°C and humidex values topped 40, prompting the Renfrew County and District Health Unit to open cooling stations at the Pembroke Mall, West End Plaza, and Stafford Park Splash Pad.
While this week’s conditions are above the typical July high of 26°C, they remain below warning thresholds. Residents are still encouraged to stay hydrated and take precautions against the heat and sun.
