The Pitt Meadows Lions Club is celebrating 75 years of service in British Columbia with a special fundraising event. Residents are invited to a pub night on May 7, 2026, at the Jolly Coachman Pub to mark the anniversary of the club’s founding in 1951.
The event will run from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 19167 Ford Rd. All funds raised during the evening will be donated back into the community. Over the last several decades, the club has raised more than half a million dollars to support local initiatives such as the Ridge Meadows Hospital, Pitt Meadows Fire and Rescue, and Ridge Meadows Search and Rescue.
Since being chartered on May 7, 1951, by 18 founding members, the club has become a staple of local life. The organization is well-known for its involvement in community traditions, including the reactivation of the annual Pitt Meadows Day celebration in 1952 and the long-standing tradition of hosting pancake breakfasts during the event.
The club currently operates with 20 members, a decrease from approximately 48 members in 1978. As the organization marks this milestone, leadership is encouraging community-minded citizens to join their efforts. Those interested in learning more about volunteer opportunities can contact the club’s membership director.
Beyond its local history, the group maintains a headquarters at 12479 Harris Road. Known as the Lions’ Den, the building was constructed between 1956 and 1958 using materials salvaged from an old schoolhouse and has served as a central meeting place for the organization for nearly seven decades.
