Families in Ponoka, Alberta, can now sign up for a full slate of summer recreation programs at the Ponoka Aquaplex, with swimming lessons, fitness classes, and kids’ day camps all open for registration. The Town of Ponoka has released its summer 2026 lineup, giving residents a chance to book activities that run from early July through late August.
Registration is open online through the Town’s PerfectMind system or in person at the Ponoka Aquaplex, located at 5315 46 Avenue, Ponoka, AB T4J 1J4. Swimming lessons kick off the week of July 6 with Parent and Tot sessions Monday to Friday from 9:15 to 9:55 a.m., and the schedule includes classes for all ages under the Swim for Life program delivered through the Lifesaving Society.
Lesson fees range from $45 for Parent and Tot and preschool classes, to $50 for Swimmer levels 1 through 6, and $58.50 for advanced courses like Rookie, Ranger, and Star Patrol. For those looking to stay active on land, fitness options include Barre at $60 for a four-class bundle ($30 for recreation pass holders), plus drop-in Zumba Gold and Total Body Cardio at $15 per class ($7.50 for recreation pass holders). Holders of the Town’s recreation pass can access discounted rates on select classes.
The Town is also running safety and certification courses this summer. A babysitting course on July 8 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. costs $67.50, while lifeguard training progresses through Bronze Cross at $166, National Lifeguard at $309, and Swim Instructor certification at $288.75. These courses are designed for teens and young adults building job-ready skills.
For working parents, the Active Adventures day program offers a full-day child care option for kids aged 6 to 14 at $200 per week. Based at the Ponoka Arena Complex, the program includes skateboarding, roller skating, swimming, and biking, giving children a mix of physical activity and outdoor fun during the break.
