Ponoka, Alberta, is in for a sunny stretch through the workweek before clouds and showers move in for the weekend, according to Environment Canada.
As of Wednesday afternoon, the temperature at the Crestomere weather station sat at 21°C with northwest winds at 15 km/h and humidity at 55%. Highs are expected to reach 21°C on Thursday and 25°C on Friday, with clear nights and overnight lows of 7°C Thursday night and 10°C Friday night.
Saturday will stay sunny with a high of 24°C, but the forecast calls for increasing cloudiness overnight and a 60% chance of showers. Sunday and Monday will bring cloudy skies and daytime highs of 19°C, with a 40% chance of rain on Sunday and 60% on Monday.
No weather alerts are currently in effect for the Ponoka area, according to both Environment Canada and the Town of Ponoka’s alert page. The forecast also notes typical August conditions for the region, with average highs of 23°C and lows of 10°C, along with a sunrise around 6:00 a.m. and sunset near 9:20 p.m.
While this week’s forecast looks quiet, the town has seen heavy rain cause problems before. A flash storm in June 2025 flooded the intersection of 50 Street and 51 Avenue when the stormwater system couldn’t keep up. Alberta Environment and Protected Areas has been working since 2023 with Northwest Hydraulic Consultants on a flood hazard study for the Battle River through Ponoka, but that work is separate from this week’s forecast.
